Plintron takes home Cloud Initiative of the Year at the Asian Telecom Awards 2022

The company aimed to onboard maximum numbers of ESP MVNOs and to ensure these achieved desired subscriber and revenue targets.

In order to meet the challenge of establishing itself in the competitive Italian mobile market and meeting its objectives despite the pandemic, Plintron launched a Cloud-based Hybrid Full mobile virtual network enabler (MVNE) model which had a partnership with a leading mobile network operator (MNO) in Italy.

Plintron provided its cloud-based Telco SaaS MVNE platform and the MNO provided the network. The project was executed with the support of the Plintron SaaS and technical team based out of Chennai, India.

The company’s launch had two objectives: to onboard a maximum number of enhanced MVNO service providers, and ensure that they have the ability to meet desired subscriber base and ARPU targets.

Even the pandemic could not hinder Plintron in this feat, with the outcome of the project being successful in terms of accomplishing its objectives. Plintron has launched to date eight Enhanced Service Provider (ESP) MVNOs with more in the pipeline. It has also added many more brands & sub-brands in the Italian market over the past two years besides achieving ARPU & subscriber targets with a current base of over 250,000.

Plintron-MVNO MVNE platform features several innovations such as a cloud-based solution with elastic scalable capacity & flexibility, complete Telco SaaS suite including NSS/BSS/OCS/OSS/GW Suites, support for aggregator MVNO model which allows the launch of independent sub-branded MVNOs, amongst others.

The company attracted many MVNOs as it offered 4G services which were exclusively offered only by one MVNO to date and also launched ESP-MVNOS under its own license, obviating the cumbersome process of getting independent MVNO licenses. Thus this Telecom-as-a-Service (TaaS) offered by Plintron enabled Italian brands to launch their own branded mobile services for their customers. The mobile services were offered and packaged as a brand extension. Starting their own mobile services would increase the brand’s business value, revenues, customer loyalty and stickiness. Plintron took care of the telecom operations & regulatory compliances whilst the brands concentrated on sales & marketing.

Plintron also focused on under-catered niche segments such as fashion brands, sports brands, ethnic, utilities and broadband which helped it succeed. Plintron‘s platform also supported all MVNO models including Full MVNO, ESP and branded reseller.

Plintron also implemented an aggregator MVNO model which allowed an ESP to launch independent sub-brands with independent offerings and customised tariffs and bundles.

These innovations, which were made possible through the company’s technical team based out of India, were recognised in the recently held Asian Telecom Awards 2022. Plintron took home the Cloud Initiative of the Year - India award for its dedication to its objectives.
