Symphony Communication leads the future of digital technology with full network infrastructure enhancement and resiliency
Together with a focused elevation on Employee Xperience, they consider it a key journey for their valuable people asset.
Since 2021, Symphony Communication Public Company Limited (Symphony) has invested heavily in upgrading its network infrastructure to meet the growing demand for high-speed, reliable, and secure connectivity across the region.
One of the key initiatives that Symphony has undertaken is the deployment of OTN/ASON DWDM and SDN-MPLS technology, which enables flexible and dynamic allocation of bandwidth, enhanced network resilience with scalable reaching Terabit capacity and reduced operational costs.
The OTN/ASON DWDM technology provides a transparent and scalable transport layer that supports various services, applications, and network infrastructures, whilst the SDN-MPLS technology allows for centralised control and automation of network functions, such as routing, traffic engineering, security and supports various services and applications such as private network, Internet, cloud computing, mobile backhaul, secured connectivity, IOT and AI.
Utilising these technologies has resulted in Symphony increasing its network capacity by more than 100%, reaching up to 200 Gbps per wavelength and 20 Tbps per fibre pair with low latency and optimised path as per service. The company has also implemented multiple fibre legs with ASON, GMPLS and Segment Routing MPLS protection mechanisms that ensure fast and seamless recovery from network failures, leading to improved network reliability.
At the same time, Symphony has simplified its network architecture and operations by using SDN-MPLS technology to automate and optimise network functions. This reduces the need for manual intervention and the risk of human error, as well as the number of network devices and interfaces. As a result, it has significantly lowered its capital expenditures and operational expenditures.
By deploying OTN/ASON DWDM and SDN-MPLS technology, Symphony has not only enhanced its network capabilities and competitiveness but also contributed to the development of the telecom industry and the digital economy in the region and collaborated to create a more connected and prosperous future for all.
Highlighting the importance of Employee Xperience
Meanwhile, the Symphony management has also started to put greater importance on its employees. As the competition for talent in the market arises, business is transforming focus from traditional employee satisfaction to a wider and more integrated concept known as Employee Xperience.
Employee Xperience contains every aspect of an employee’s journey, from the attract, onboard, engage, development and departure. It goes beyond ordinary job satisfaction and focuses on creating a wellbeing, meaningful and fulfilling experience for employees throughout their entire moment.
As such, Symphony has transformed various HR activities in 2023 to deliver an elevated Employee Xperience.
This includes the implementation of the new onboarding programme to build the meaningful onboarding for the new joiners, as the company believes that the first month is a crucial stage for new employees. It involves providing necessary basics, an induction programme necessary to their roles, conducting new joiner pulse surveys, providing micro-learning, and letting them enjoy small success celebrations with management once they completed their first four months.
Moreover, it has launched many activities that impact employees’ wellbeing to be consistent with the economic situation and remain competitive in the market by. This includes increasing medical benefits by 160% across all levels, increasing more than five days of vacation based on their service tenure, updating the perks and working tools policy, and having organised more than 20 meaningful events for employees.
Through these initiatives, amongst others, company-wide attrition rate has been reduced at 6%. The employee engagement survey ratings have also been increased at 14% from the last five years.
Symphony’s successful initiatives have earned the recognition of the Asian Telecom Awards, with its network infrastructures winning the Infrastructure Initiative of the Year - Thailand and the Employee Xperience initiatives bagging the HR Initiative of the Year - Thailand category win.
