Philippines' smartphone market up 6.1% YoY in 2024
It was supported by the strategic approach of vendors of bringing in more entry-level models.
The Philippines' smartphone market grew 6.1% year-over-year (YoY) to almost 18 million units in 2024, according to International Data Corporation's recent report.
The growth was supported by the strategic approach of vendors of bringing in more entry-level models to keep smartphones affordable to Filipinos.
More than half of total shipments in last year were priced below $100, with Transsion bringing in over 4.8 million units.
This brought the overall average selling price from $192 in 2023 down to $179 in 2024.
“Whilst the last quarter slowed down with an annual decline of 11.8% due to early launches, it still remained the strongest quarter with almost 5 million shipments,” Angela Medez, senior market analyst for client devices at IDC Philippines, said.
