China to conduct commercial trials for satellite IoT services
Goals include forming replicable models and enhancing service capabilities.
Eligible enterprises in China will have two years to conduct commercial trials for satellite Internet of Things (IoT) services as part of the country's plan to boost the satellite communication market.
Aside from forming replicable and scalable models, the commercial trials will help in setting up a security supervision system and enhancing industry service capabilities.
Citing a Ministry of Industry and Information Technology circular, Xinhua reported that interested enterprises should be involved in building satellite IoT systems, business support systems, operation support systems, and management support systems.
Amongst the devices that leverage satellite communication technology are data collection terminals, wearable devices, and the likes of ships and aircraft. Target users include those in transportation, energy, agriculture, and emergency response.
