NHG Health, Singtel deploy 5G teleconsultation in Singapore clinics

About 40 sites move to dedicated SIM connectivity amidst remote consultations push.

NHG Health and Singtel will deploy 5G+ Priority network connectivity across enhanced Community Health Posts (CHPs) in Central and North Singapore, starting with sites in Toa Payoh and expanding to Woodlands, Sembawang, and Yishun by 2027.

In a press release, Singtel said the rollout includes 40 SIM cards across 40 enhanced CHP sites located within Active Ageing Centres (AACs) to support teleconsultation services for residents, particularly older adults.

NHG Health operates 105 CHPs across Central and North Singapore as Regional Health Manager for the region, with most CHPs operating within or near AACs. NHG Health has enhanced the CHPs since early 2026.

Enhanced CHPs provide daily teleconsultations with nurses and fortnightly access to pharmacists and dietitians during AAC operating hours.

The sites also support frailty screening and management through the Be Fit, Not Frail programme for residents aged 60 and above, and and is offered at more than 40 sites, supporting frailty prevention in community settings.

NHG Health has introduced Community Health Pods as a new CHP design, which provide space for health information access, face-to-face consultations, teleconsultations, and self-monitoring of indicators such as blood pressure.

The first Community Health Pod operates in Woodlands and uses Singtel’s 5G+ Priority connectivity.

Singtel’s 5G+ Priority system uses network slicing to allocate dedicated network resources to connected sites.

NHG Health has cited inconsistent Wi-Fi connectivity as a limitation for teleconsultation services at community sites.

Under the partnership, Singtel will provide 5G connectivity, eSIM management, and managed services to support scaling of CHP services across additional towns in Central and North Singapore, with NHG Health planning to extend coverage to eight towns over time.

Professor Joe Sim, Group CEO of NHG Health, said the initiative supports delivery of care closer to residents and reduces travel to hospitals and clinics.

Ng Tian Chong, CEO of Singtel Singapore, said the system supports low-latency and secure connectivity for teleconsultations and real-time data transfer.

NHG Health and Singtel are also exploring expansion of connectivity and devices into residential homes.
