8x8 International Pte Ltd was recognised in the Cybersecurity Initiative of the Year - Singapore category in the Asian Telecom Awards 2026 for Omni Shield, its real-time SMS fraud prevention solution designed to stop attacks before they impact customers or lead to financial loss.
Omni Shield was built directly into the 8x8 Connect no-code platform, giving enterprises immediate visibility into SMS traffic behaviour and the ability to block threats with a single action. The solution removes the need for engineering resources, custom tools, or external monitoring systems, allowing teams to respond as threats emerge.
The platform continuously detects abnormal traffic patterns and issues automated alerts as risks appear. It also supports auto-suspend capabilities and real-time dashboards that display operator risk scoring and conversion visibility, helping teams make informed decisions under pressure. By delivering these capabilities through a no-code interface, Omni Shield allows product, operations, and security teams to act within seconds rather than waiting on engineering cycles or third-party analysts.
During its initial deployment, Omni Shield detected 87.5% of fraudulent SMS traffic, demonstrating strong accuracy against artificial inflation traffic fraud. This early performance showed its ability to reduce exposure to fraud whilst maintaining reliable message delivery for legitimate traffic.
The solution also operates as part of 8x8 International Pte Ltd’s wider protection ecosystem. Its integration with Descope supports secure identity workflows and reduces the risk of fraudulent one-time password initiation and account takeover attempts. During active attacks, businesses can adjust authentication flows and reduce reliance on SMS-based verification in favour of safer alternatives.
In addition, Silent Mobile Authentication adds SIM-based verification using mobile network signals, confirming user possession without exposing one-time passwords or relying on interception-prone SMS routes. This layer helps prevent SIM-swap fraud and unauthorised access attempts.
