Axiata Group Berhad earns recognition at Asian Telecom Awards 2025
The company bagged the award with Helios, its patent pending solution for strengthening cybersecurity.
Axiata Group Berhad was recognised with the Cybersecurity Initiative of the Year - Malaysia at the Asian Telecom Awards 2025, which reflects its position as a leading telecommunications and digital services provider in Asia.
Axiata’s ecosystem encompasses over 15 brands, spans 12 operating markets, and covers seven lines of business, and this extensive network has posed several significant challenges. Amongst these are the significant time investment in attacking surface discovery; inaccuracies and gaps in the manual process that involved correlating data points; lack of integration between the intelligence collected during attack surface discovery and other essential cybersecurity practices; impractical manual processing; and the limited dark web intelligence gathering, which compromises the ability to detect and mitigate potential threats proactively.
To address these challenges, Axiata launched its advanced and homegrown cybersecurity platform, Helios, to safeguard its security.
Positioned as an attack intelligence platform with end-to-end automation, Helios has adopted an offensive security mindset that simulates an attacker's perspective to identify possible entry points and navigation paths.
Helios significantly reduces the time required to uncover vulnerabilities by cutting the process from 12 weeks to less than 1 week. It also enhances accuracy and integrates with other essential security practices, ensuring a comprehensive defence against cyber threats.
Some of its key features include extensive and automated vulnerability discovery, in which weaknesses in assets like web applications, source code repositories, cloud containers, and APIs are proactively discovered. The platform also gathers intelligence from dark web sources, including leaked credentials, for proactive threat mitigation. Moreover, Helios boasts a real-time monitoring system that continuously scans for threats and sends instant alerts to allow for rapid action. What sets Helios apart is the extensive sources of data collection and the dark web crawler built in-house, both of which enhance the accuracy of the intelligence gathered.
