Eastern Communications was honoured at Asian Telecom Awards 2025
The company bagged two awards for its game-changer public cloud platform, Eastern Cloud, and its PDSCN expansion project.
Eastern Communications was named the Cloud Initiative of the Year - Philippines and Infrastructure Initiative of the Year - Philippines recipient at the Asian Telecom Awards 2025, highlighting its effort in redefining cloud computing in the Philippines with Eastern Cloud and its submarine cable network providing resilience and redundancy across the country.
“Together, we strive to shape a future where technology empowers and connects everyone. On behalf of Eastern Communications, we are truly grateful for this recognition at the Asian Telecom Awards 2025, says Jed Estanislao, AVP and Head of Marketing and Customer Experience. “We share this achievement with our customers, partners, and the incredible people behind Eastern Communications, whose dedication makes everything possible."
Eastern Cloud, a customisable public cloud platform powered by CloudSigma, allows businesses to purchase only the computing resources they need without being locked into fixed server sizes. This flexible, unbundled approach provides businesses with greater control, cost savings, and scalability.
The platform is designed to support organisations of all sizes, from startups to large enterprises. It offers a full range of services, including Platform as a Service (PaaS) for easy application development, which helps businesses streamline their operations while reducing costs. Key features such as the Virtual Router ensure optimum network security, whilst SGX Confidential Computing offers enhanced data protection, even during analytics processing.
Digital transformation driver
More than just a business success story, Eastern Cloud has also helped drive digital transformation across industries in the Philippines by enabling businesses to reduce IT infrastructure costs by up to 30%. This is especially beneficial for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) looking to scale without significant capital investment.
The growing trend of cloud adoption in the Philippines is evident, with 85% of businesses planning to fully migrate to the cloud within the next two years. With Eastern Cloud’s modular design, businesses can scale resources as needed.
The Philippine government’s Cloud First Policy has further accelerated cloud adoption, mandating the digitalisation of essential public services and encouraging micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to embrace digital technologies. Eastern Cloud’s flexibility and affordability make it a perfect fit for this policy, supporting businesses in their transition.
With a PHP4.3b investment, the Philippine Domestic Submarine Cable Network (PDSCN) project by Eastern Communications is a joint venture between Eastern Communications, Globe Group, and InfiniVAN that addresses the country's vulnerabilities in communication infrastructure. The project strengthens the company's telecommunications backbone by deploying extensive terrestrial and submarine cables that enhance connectivity resilience against natural disasters.
To reduce the likelihood and frequency of network faults caused by cable cuts, the PDSCN Express Route, encompassing various points in the country, is designed to have at least 80% of cables laid submarine and less than 20% inland. Through this strategic design, Eastern Communications is able to provide better bandwidth to meet the varied needs of Filipinos, especially in disaster-prone areas.
Through the PDSCN project, Eastern Communications and partners showcase their commitment to nation-building by boosting the Philippines' digital infrastructure.
Amidst its continued success, Eastern Communications has remained dedicated to helping businesses succeed in the digital age.
