The telecom solution provider was lauded for its cloud-based Customer Engagement Platform and innovative solution for reducing international roaming costs.
Plintron, a global leader in telecommunications technology, received accolades from the Asian Telecom Awards 2025, earning the Cloud Initiative of the Year - India and Technology Innovation of the Year - India recognitions.
Cloud-based customer engagement platform
Plintron’s cloud-based Customer Engagement Platform (CEP) was designed to empower Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNOs) and aims to enhance customer loyalty and increase revenue. It also strives to improve user engagement by enabling MVNOs to deliver personalised experiences through personalised communication and strategic promotions.
The platform integrates advanced Customer Value Management (CVM) features like usage-based recommendations, sophisticated user segmentation, real-time analytics, and automated campaign management.
Its key features include an omni-channel communication that supports SMS, voice, and email; real-time analytics that provides insights into customer behaviour and enables MVNOs to trigger personalised campaigns in real-time; a flow-builder tool which is for designing customer journey workflows that adapt to individual interactions; automated campaign creation and execution that helps MVNOs streamline marketing efforts; unified dashboards that offer a comprehensive view of campaign performance across all communication channels; and Cloud-based Communications Platform as a Service (CPaaS) technology that helps MVNOs to automate and manage marketing and customer interactions efficiently.
CEP also drives customer engagement and revenue growth, and it does so by enabling targeted promotions, streamlining the onboarding process, allocating resources during peak times, and gathering customer feedback through automated post-interaction surveys.
By combining real-time customer insights with automated workflows, MVNOs can offer relevant services.
Cutting international roaming costs
To address the challenge of high international roaming charges that hinders communication abroad, Plintron’s product development team has created a solution that significantly reduces international roaming costs and that uses cloud technology for more affordable mobile communication.
This solution enables a seamless transition of a subscriber’s International Mobile Subscriber Identity (IMSI) to a local operator’s IMSI when roaming. This process is facilitated by a cloud switch that dynamically allocates local IMSI and/or Mobile Station International Subscriber Directory Number (MSISDN) based on the subscriber's location, effectively reducing the cost of roaming services.
Plintron's new solution addresses the challenges faced by roaming subscribers, such as high service costs and complex routing processes associated with traditional roaming methods. The cloud switch acts as a centralized router, enabling service providers to join and offer both inbound and outbound roaming solutions more efficiently.
Those who primarily benefit from this solution include business travellers, tourists who frequently travel abroad, mobile network operators, and platform providers.
By lowering roaming costs, Plintron’s technology not only benefits travellers and businesses but also fosters greater economic activity by improving international trade and tourism.
Plintron’s solution has been officially recognised with a patent granted by the Patent Office, Government of India, on March 21, 2024.
