PT. Telkomsel wins two awards at Asian Telecom Awards 2026
The company leverages AI and SIM-based verification to improve customer experience, operational efficiency, and digital trust across Indonesia’s telecom sector.
PT. Telkomsel won Technology Innovation of the Year - Indonesia and Telecom Company of the Year - Indonesia in the Asian Telecom Awards 2026. The company’s initiatives in artificial intelligence and SIM-based verification strengthen customer experiences, operational efficiency, and digital trust across the nation.
The company’s AI-led transformation spans over 100 enterprise-wide use cases in network operations, customer service, sales, and IT automation. Autonomous networks with predictive and self-healing capabilities improve network stability, increase average revenue per site by 31.6%, reduce downtime threefold, and lower incident response times by more than 40%.
AI-driven customer care solutions, including intelligent chatbots Veronika and Ted, cut customer resolution costs by 78% and enhance satisfaction metrics. SalesAI tools improved low-performing sales areas by 79.1% and optimised branch staffing and placement, reducing cost per customer visit by 8.2%. Meanwhile, MyTelkomsel’s Smart Search features increased search relevance and speed, reducing backend query costs by over 40% and improving search latency by 62%.
Beyond internal operations, PT. Telkomsel extends AI capabilities to Indonesia’s wider digital ecosystem. The AI Innovation Hub, in collaboration with ITB, serves as a national centre for AI research, talent development, and multi-sector collaboration. The company’s AI Academy and IndonesiaNEXT programmes trained over 96,000 people, upskilling the nation in AI, large language models, and cloud technologies.
In parallel, PT. Telkomsel launched the SIM-based Number Verification API through Google Firebase to secure Indonesia’s growing app economy. The solution enables developers to authenticate users seamlessly and at scale, using mobile numbers as verified digital credentials. Integrating Telco SIM-based verification with Google Firebase reduces integration time from weeks to minutes whilst validating identities against the company’s 158 million-strong subscriber base. The API provides protection against common fraud tactics such as SIM swaps, account takeovers, and OTP interception, ensuring a trusted digital identity layer for banking, fintech, and other digital services.
