Singtel recognised with two categories at Asian Telecom Awards 2025
The company is pioneering Quantum-Safe Networks and cybersecurity innovations for a safer digital future.
Singapore Telecommunications Limited (Singtel) took home the accolades for B2B Client Initiative of the Year - Singapore and Cybersecurity Initiative of the Year - Singapore at the Asian Telecom Awards 2025.
This award affirms the company’s position as a leader in enterprise security, quantum-safe network solutions, and next-generation cybersecurity solutions. It also highlights Singtel’s commitment to fortifying businesses against emerging threats whilst enabling enterprises to embrace digital transformation confidently.
Advancing enterprise security in the quantum era
As quantum computing progresses, traditional encryption mechanisms face increasing vulnerabilities, necessitating a shift towards adopting quantum-safe security solutions. In response, the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) launched Singapore’s first National Quantum-Safe Network Plus (NQSN+), and Singtel has been appointed by IMDA to develop this initiative, strengthening the nation’s resilience against quantum threats over the next decade.
Recognising the need to safeguard organisations and their critical data from emerging quantum threats, Singtel introduced its Quantum-Safe Network (QSN), integrating advanced quantum-safe technologies such as Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) and Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC), ensuring continued security and resilience for enterprises in the quantum era. In collaboration with ID Quantique, Singtel’s QSN delivers advanced quantum-safe solutions to help organisations stay ahead of evolving cybersecurity challenges.
"Though quantum computing may be in its nascent stages, it’s fast gaining velocity across critical information sectors, especially banking, healthcare, and government services, and we want to ensure Singapore is ready for it," Mr Ng Tian Chong, Chief Executive Officer of Singtel Singapore, said.
Spearheading the development of a Quantum-Safe Network (QSN) ecosystem, Singtel has established strategic partnerships with Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet, Cisco, and Nokia, aiming to enhance and expand its quantum-safe solutions for enterprises.
"The addition of Palo Alto Networks and Fortinet’s advanced software solutions to our QSN provides enterprise customers with more industry-leading options to safeguard their businesses against current and future quantum threats, regardless of their hardware requirements.
This collaboration enables businesses to integrate quantum key distribution into their existing security frameworks by leveraging Cisco’s routing platforms, Fortinet’s firewalls, and Nokia’s optical devices," the company stated.
To guide and support enterprises on their journey to becoming quantum-safe, Singtel introduced a three-phase pilot programme in August 2024. The programme offered structured workshops, integration testbeds, and live trials, ensuring organisations a risk-free and smooth integration of quantum-safe technologies tailored to their needs.
Enhancing cybersecurity
In addition to securing enterprises against quantum threats, Singtel has been at the forefront of next-generation cybersecurity innovations.
The rapid digitisation of Singapore, coupled with high mobile phone penetration, has significantly expanded the attack surface for cybercriminals. Whilst these advancements offer numerous benefits, they also increase the risk of cyber threats like phishing and social engineering attacks. Recognising this growing concern, Singtel introduced SingVerify, an innovative telco-based authentication solution that leverages network intelligence to enhance digital identity security for both consumers and businesses.
“Phishing scams continue to impact many innocent people. In today’s digital economy, technology is pervasive, and we’d like our customers to be able to enjoy the benefits of a digital lifestyle safely.” Mr Ng shared.
A first in Singapore, Sing Verify empowers enterprises with a suite of APIs that leverage real-time telco network data to enhance digital identity authentication. By moving beyond traditional SMS OTPs and passwords, SingVerify leverages key features like Number Verify, validating phone number-credential matches, Device Location, mitigating location-based fraud risks, and Scam Sniffer, detecting suspicious call patterns to combat Authorised Push Payment (APP) fraud.
Expanding its impact beyond Singapore, Singtel signed two memoranda of understanding with AIS in Thailand and Maxis in Malaysia, extending SingVerify’s authentication capabilities to over 45 million customers in Thailand and 12 million customers in Malaysia.
In addition to SingVerify, Singtel launched Enterprise Mobile Protect (EMP), the world’s first Security-as-a-Slice (SeCaaS) solution. Developed in collaboration with Palo Alto Networks, this initiative leverages 5G network slicing technology alongside Palo Alto’s Next-Generation Firewalls (NGFWs).
By combining Singtel's leadership in 5G innovation and Palo Alto Networks expertise in 5G-native security, Machine Learning-Powered Next-Generation Firewalls (ML-Powered NGFW) and cloud-based cybersecurity products, Singtel is now able to offer customised, highly secure 5G virtual networks or “slices.” Cyber threats such as viruses, malware, spyware, phishing links, and malicious websites will be proactively identified and blocked in real-time at the network level, preventing them from getting to users’ mobile devices.
As cyber risks grow increasingly sophisticated, Singtel remains committed to delivering cutting-edge security solutions that empower enterprises, enhance digital trust, and safeguard critical data assets.
