Jio Platforms takes home Asian Telecom Awards for largest 5G Standalone core

It has crafted a network with superior performance and reliability, driving innovation in cloud computing and edge data center implementation.

Tech company Jio Platforms Limited (JPL) brought home the Telecom Company of the Year  -  India category win at the recently held Asian Telecom Awards 2024 for its successful deployment of the world’s largest 5G Standalone (SA) Core for the Reliance Jio Infocomm-owned True 5G network.

The 5G SA Core serves millions of subscribers and offers a massive user plane capacity. It also integrates advanced 5G radios, a versatile 5G/4G Combo Core with Voice and Video over New Radio support, and a comprehensive suite of automation platforms. These components enable operators to transition seamlessly to 5G. It helps leverage revenue opportunities through Network APIs exposed through a network exposure and monetisation platform.

This extensive deployment also utilises a sophisticated, comprehensive end-to-end 5G stack that is cloud-native, signifying JPL’s foresight and adaptability in embracing future-proof technologies. It has been made possible through a fully automated process, leveraging JPL’s robust cloud orchestration, automation, as well as AI and ML platforms.

Moreover, the implementation showcases JPL’s adeptness at project management and its expertise in deploying digital transformation solutions.

The 5G network is designed to deliver lightning-fast speeds, enabling myriad applications and services that require high bandwidth and low latency. It is not just a platform for mobile connectivity, but the foundational infrastructure to support the next wave of digital innovation in India, including smart cities, IoT, and industrial automation. It is also capable of supporting the burgeoning demand for data and connectivity in one of the world’s largest digital markets.

Indigenous to India, this deployment has set a new precedent in the telecommunications industry, marking a significant milestone not only for JPL but also for the global telecom sector.

“JPL’s deployment is a testament to its ability to design, build, and operate a network of this scale and complexity. The company’s strategic approach to developing future-proof network infrastructure is characterised by meticulous planning, robust engineering, and visionary leadership. This allows JPL to provide an exceptional user experience that is seamless, reliable, and responsive to the dynamic needs of its customers,” the company said.
