Singtel flies high at Asian Telecom Awards for groundbreaking projects

It has fortified and modernised network infrastructures with its various solutions.

Singapore telecom giant Singtel secured triple wins at the recently held Asian Telecom Awards for its portfolio of services that have led the charge on global innovation, fortifying and modernising network infrastructures.

In July 2023, Singtel announced a collaboration with SAP to develop an end-to-end Intelligent Edge Aggregator (IEA) solution that will add greater cloud functionality and computing capabilities to its network architecture to help boost enterprise operations.

Developed on Singtel’s Paragon platform and supported by its 5G networks and multi-edge computing solutions, the IEA will enable enterprise customers to quickly access and integrate SAP software with their back-end processes at the cloud server edge to gain real-time insights that will help them with decision-making on time-sensitive business requirements.

With the incorporation of the IEA into Singtel’s existing portfolio of enterprise solutions, enterprises will have more tools and support to develop 5G use cases where ultra-fast speeds, low latency, and high bandwidth are critical. This is especially beneficial to enterprises in the manufacturing and logistics sectors that require applications like automated quality checks, defect detection, and last-mile delivery robotics.

This collaboration also includes a joint go-to-market plan to scale the bundled solution across the region to countries like Australia, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, and India.

Moreover, Singtel has entered into a partnership with the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) to launch a 5G Aviation Testbed at Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 3’s airside. This enables companies to use 5G to trial and adopt new solutions, which would help raise productivity for critical airside functions, including aircraft ground operations, ground handling, and line maintenance services.

Other potential use cases being explored for the 5G Aviation Testbed include advanced remote inspection of aircraft and the use of video analytics and artificial intelligence to better predict aircraft turnaround time and drive on-time performance.

Singtel’s innovation in 5G use cases in the country has been recognised as the B2B Client Initiative of the Year - Singapore in the awards programme.

The company also won the Cybersecurity Initiative of the Year - Singapore for several initiatives. It enables enterprises to enjoy complete security coverage protection for their network, applications and cloud by integrating a suite of network-centric cyber security and managed services with its security operations centre, and leveraging its network leadership to ensure secure and reliable connections.
Its end-to-end security solutions address the dynamic cybersecurity landscape and protect enterprises from threats such as unauthorised access, data breaches, and other cyber threats. Through its security operations centre, Singtel provides security operations management and monitors threats across diverse environments, offering end-to-end visibility for real-time threats and IT assets. As more customers are treating cybersecurity as part of their day-to-day operations, Singtel is uniquely positioned to provide both network and cyber security operations under one single pane of glass.

In September 2023, Singtel also successfully launched the groundbreaking Cyber Elevate Programme at the Singtel Cyber Security Institute (CSI). This skills-building and cyber incident management programme targets the enhancement of cyber security resilience for small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

It includes cyber risk profile audits, mentorship workshops, legal and forensics support, and ensuring SMEs are well-prepared to prevent, detect, respond to, and recover from cyber-attacks. Additionally, the programme is offered at highly subsidised rates due to CSI's involvement in the SkillsFuture Queen Bee network.

“With our unique telco advantage in providing holistic network-based security services from the edge to the cloud, we offer real-time visibility for quicker decision-making through a unified network and security workflow, thus enhancing cyber resilience and security posture in hyperconnected enterprises,” the company said.

Meanwhile, network modernisation remains a crucial factor in providing next-generation services and enterprises are discovering that their traditional network infrastructure was not designed to meet the demands of modern digital businesses.

As such, Singtel CUBΣ provides enterprises with the ability to be connected with unified, usage-based digital services in a best-in-class ecosystem, platforms, and partnerships for ease of manageability and consumption.

Through the easy-to-navigate and intuitive user interface of the Singtel CUBΣ portal, enterprises will have visibility of services and insights on all subscribed services, as well as access to self-service tools and centralised management capabilities, making it easier to deploy virtualised networks.

At the same time, enterprises can also use AI, automation, and predictive analytics to create repeatable workflows to ease the management of multiple domains, enabling faster fault detection, isolation, and service restoration should incidents arise.

“At Singtel, we aim to provide cutting-edge solutions to help businesses optimise their existing networks and build future networks to meet the demands of digital transformation and stay ahead of the competition,” the company said.

Singtel CUBΣ clinched the Digital Initiative of the Year - Singapore for its impact on enterprises.
