What telecom services will look like with 6G
6G could bring immersive mixed reality amongst others.
The development of 6G could expand basic telecommunication services, vivo Communications Research Institute found in its new white paper.
"At the forefront of R&D, we continue to explore what a 6G world might look like and what technologies we need to develop to get there,” Qin Fei, President of vivo Communications Research Institute, said.
The white paper, 6G Services, Capabilities and Enabling Technologies, followed the insights of two earlier works, published in 2020. This includes the Digital Life 2030+ which outlined potential scenarios of having 6G and challenges that could arise.
"6G will allow us to bring the next generation of connectivity into every aspect of people's lives,” Rakesh Tamrakar, 5G and 6G Standards Expert at vivo, said.
“It will integrate more access technologies, cover a larger physical space, and provide better core capabilities, supporting more services.”
According to the white paper, 6G could bring new experiences, such as immersive mixed reality, and holographic and multisensory communication.
It will further improve capacity, data rate, latency, and reliability amongst others.
6G native artificial intelligence is also expected to improve network and air interface efficiency. It will also improve system flexibility as well as reduce cost.
To enable 6G services, new network functions will need to be introduced. It will also require a brand-new system architecture design.
Moreover, an end-to-end cross-layer data plane will also be required to support intelligent and basic information services.
