Telekom Malaysia Berhad clinches three wins at Asian Telecom Awards 2026

Recognition highlights nationwide 5G backhaul, advanced data centres infrastructure, and regional connectivity growth.

Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) won Fast-Track Deployment of the Year - Malaysia, Infrastructure Initiative of the Year - Malaysia, and Telecom Company of the Year - Malaysia in the Asian Telecom Awards 2026. The recognition reflects the company’s role in strengthening Malaysia’s digital backbone through 5G deployment, advanced data centre infrastructure, and international connectivity leadership.

Through TM Global, its wholesale arm, the group accelerated the rollout of Malaysia’s second 5G network by enabling large-scale backhaul infrastructure in partnership with U Mobile. The 10-year agreement worth RM2.4b supports fibre connectivity, inter-regional trunk links, and data centre facilities for network integration.

Beyond connectivity, the company expanded its hyperconnected Data Centre ecosystem across Cyberjaya and Johor to support artificial intelligence, cloud services, and high-performance computing. The upgraded facilities deliver a combined IT load of 20MW and enable Malaysia’s first sovereign GPU-as-a-Service deployment. Enhancements in cooling, power distribution, and security strengthen operational resilience, whilst renewable energy adoption and green building standards support long-term sustainability.

Regional connectivity also advanced through submarine cable investments, open-access landing stations, and upgraded cross-border transmission routes linking Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia. New infrastructure, such as the Morib Cable Landing Station and participation in additional cable systems, increases global reach and network capacity. Complementing these developments, TM Global operates multiple core and edge data centres designed for low-latency digital services, supported by recognised cybersecurity and business continuity certifications.

Financial performance in Quarter 3 of 2025 further reflects operational resilience, with revenue reaching RM2.99b and EBIT rising to RM619.8m for the quarter. These results indicate stronger margins, productivity improvements, and disciplined cost management amidst evolving market conditions.
