Sri Lanka sees launch of 5G Wi-Fi service
Offering to provide connectivity even during power outages.
Wi-Fi connectivity using 5G technology is now available in Sri Lanka.
Offered by Sri Lankan telco Dialog Axiata, a new product called Dialog Air Fibre seeks to provide high-speed internet without using physical cables. It features an indoor device unit that operates on Dialog's 5G network.
Air Fibre is also bundled with free content and entertainment subscriptions, as well as more than 100 TV channels through Dialog Play. Notably, the offering is supported by a built-in battery that can allow as much as six hours of connectivity during a power outage.
"Dialog Air Fibre represents a meaningful step forward in our mission to democratise access to high-quality connectivity across Sri Lanka," said Group Chief Operating Officer Lim Li San.
"By combining innovation with practicality, we are enabling customers to enjoy reliable, high-speed 5G broadband through a convenient plug-and-play Wi-Fi solution, without traditional constraints."
The COO added: "This launch reflects our continued commitment to investing in future-ready technologies and delivering inclusive digital experiences that support the evolving needs of individuals, homes, and businesses."
Dialog is currently accepting pre-orders for Air Fibre.
