ASEAN telcos alliance to streamline cross-border connectivity
The new partnership has access with over 10,000 km of network across Southeast Asia.
A group of telcos and data centre providers in Southeast Asia formed an alliance called ASEAN Connect which aims to provide seamless access to collaborative services for carriers and OTT players across the region.
Initial stakeholders in the alliance include APT Satellite, FPT International Telecom, Interlink Telecom, Neocom ISP, NTC Asia, SEAX Global and Telin.
Collectively, the ASEAN Connect has access to more than 10,000 km of network infrastructure spanning Hong Kong, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia.
In its statement, the group said it intends to provide clients with a standardised suite of services under the ASEAN Connect umbrella to ensure “reliability, scalability, and efficiency in connectivity and data centre management solutions.”
Alliance members will pool their resources and expertise to streamline processes, offering one-stop shopping, single-end billing, and unified operational processes, which it says will reduce installation and maintenance lead times.
This will enable OTT platforms to deliver content more efficiently, ensuring seamless streaming experiences for users across borders, as well as pave the way for innovative content delivery solutions — driving engagement and growth in the ASEAN digital landscape.
“The alliance one-stop shop delivers high SLA with borderless connectivity supported by a suite of fully redundant terrestrial, submarine cable, and satellite networks, promising a short lead time for seamless integration,” the ASEAN Connect said.
