Indonesia’s smartphone market recovers with 15.5% YoY growth in 2024
The growth was mainly driven by the ultra low-end segment.
Indonesia’s smartphone market grew by 15.5% YoY to nearly 40 million units in 2024 after multiple quarters of decline, according to an International Data Corporation report.
The growth was mainly driven by the ultra low-end segment ($100) led by Transsion. The mid-range segment ($200<$600) also had strong growth at 24.9% YoY, with OPPO leading the segment.
Meanwhile, the higher-priced smartphones in the $600+ segment declined significantly at 9.2%, largely due to the iPhone 16 ban during the fourth quarter. The average selling price (ASP) was stable as it declined at 0.5% YoY, reaching $195 in 2024.
Shares of 5G increased significantly to 25.8% driven by the new model releases and increasingly affordable 5G offerings. It was still led by Samsung, with OPPO closing the gap only towards the end of 2024. 5G ASP dropped 20.4% YoY, reaching $441.
