Indosat expands AI capabilities to boost Indonesian economy
Indosat’s partnership with NVIDIA aims to enhance AI-driven services in the country.
Indosat has partnered with NVIDIA to bring advanced artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities to Indonesian enterprises and consumers alike, beginning with the development of a hyper-connected data centre.
“In February, we tied up with NVIDIA to provide AI cloud services in Indonesia and to put Indonesia on the forefront of AI innovation,” said Ritesh Kumar Singh, Chief Commercial Officer of Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison. The AI cloud services will be powered by an initial batch of 1,000 GPUs from NVIDIA, integrated into the data centres of Indosat’s subsidiary, Lintasarta, in collaboration with BDx Data Centers.
Indosat’s vision for this partnership extends beyond just technology deployment. “This is not only a partnership; we are going to make sure that we are empowering every Indonesian by providing them learning, by providing them empowerment through giving more digital services, and also making sure that sovereign cloud is putting Indonesia at the forefront of AI innovations,” Singh emphasised.
One of the key applications of AI in Indosat’s data centres will be to enhance customer experiences. With over 100 million customers, Indosat plans to leverage AI technology to deliver hyper-personalised services tailored to individual needs.
He explained that AI would enable Indosat to go beyond traditional customer segmentation, allowing the company to interact with customers on a one-to-one basis, ensuring that the services and products offered are relevant and timely.
To further this mission, Indosat plans to extend its network deep into rural Indonesia, where digital services can have a transformative impact on local communities. Singh provided examples of how digital literacy and connectivity could empower rural populations, such as enabling farmers to access market information to maximise their profits and helping fishermen use weather data to optimise their harvests.
By addressing the top challenges faced by Indonesians and leveraging AI to provide solutions, Indosat aims to not only enhance its service offerings but also contribute significantly to the nation’s economic growth. “That’s what we want to do,” Singh said, “find the top three to four problems which every Indonesian is facing, and how we can empower them by keeping them digital.”
