Cambodia, HK collaborate on telco issues
Goal is to address challenges like scam and spam.
Cambodia and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China are cooperating to deal with telecommunications issues and share regulatory best practices.
Made official by a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Telecommunication Regulator of Cambodia (TRC) and Hong Kong's Office of the Communications Authority (OFCA), the collaboration seeks to address telco problems such as spam and scam communications.
Under the MoU, the two regulatory bodies will coordinate in protecting telecom users and sustaining trust in the sector. The partnership will also involve the timely exchange of insights on industry trends.
According to TRC Chair Chenda Thong (pictured above with OFCA Director-General Chaucer Leung), the bilateral cooperation is expected to result in the strengthening of sectoral resilience whilst pushing for telco consumer protection and digital trust in Cambodia and Hong Kong.
