China greenlights 6G technology trials
Spectrum allocation designed to accelerate 6G efforts.
The IMT-2030 (6G) Promotion Group in China has been granted approval for 6G trial spectrum.
The 6G (sixth generation of cellular networks) technology trials will be based on performance indicators set by the International Telecommunication Union for 6G. The goal is to advance 6G technical research, testing, and validation, according to a Xinhua report that cited the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).
Established by the MIIT in 2019, the IMT-2030 (6G) Promotion Group consists of major operators, vendors, universities, and research institutions working on China's sixth-generation mobile communication technology research.
Efforts in 6G research & development, standardisation, and industrialisation are expected to get a timeline boost in China through the spectrum allocation, Xinhua reported.
