Reliance, Meta to develop AI data centre in India
The Jamnagar facility will have an initial capacity of 168 MW.
Reliance Industries Limited and Meta will develop an AI-enabled data centre in Jamnagar, Gujarat.
The facility will have an initial capacity of 168 megawatts and is expected to be delivered within two years, with an option to scale.
Reliance said the project will be Meta’s first built-to-suit data centre capacity in India.
Meta will lease capacity from the facility to support its global infrastructure, core business, and AI compute needs.
Under the agreement, Reliance will provide end-to-end services for the data centre, including design, construction, utilities management, renewable power supply, network connectivity, and managed operational services.
The company said the Jamnagar location offers advantages for large-scale data centre operations, including access to renewable energy, water availability, proximity to India’s western submarine cable landing stations, and Jio’s fibre network.
The facility will be powered by renewable energy and cooled using desalinated seawater.
